Matt was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Owasso. He attended St. Mark's United Methodist in Tulsa until graduating from high school. At St. Mark's he was Youth President for two years and Vice President for one year, led Praise and Worship, and created lesson based video segments for illustrations used in Youth Group meetings. Graduated from Owasso High School in 1999 and was a commencement speaker chosen by teachers and principals. Matt attended Oklahoma City University from 1999-2003 and graduated with a major in Religion and a minor in Theater.
He has been working in Youth Ministry for six years. Matt was hired on as part time Youth Pastor at Ridgecrest United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City in January 2001 and ontinued to work there part time until August of 2004 when he became full-time staff and not only worked as youth Pastor, but also paid the church bills and taxes, processed payroll checks, reconciled the bank statements, put together the newsletter and bulletins for Sunday services and the slide shows for worship. Matt became very familiar with all aspects of church ministry.
He was hired on at Heritage United Methodist in January of 2006 and continues to work on bringing youth into a place in their lives where they are comfortable with having a personal relationship with Christ on a daily basis. Matt leads youth worship on Wednesday nights, Bible study on Thursday mornings, and Youth Intercessory Prayer on Monday evenings. |
